Many IELI students choose to live with homestay families when they first arrive. Students are welcomed into the homes of their homestay families, who supply a separate bedroom furnished with an adult-sized bed, wardrobe or chest of draws, bedside table, desk, chair and study lamp. IELI families are carefully selected by IELI through application, interview and student feedback. All families provide police security checks for added safety.
Homestay hosts provide students with three meals per day, and treat them as part of their families. Students are expected to follow the homestay family rules and take part in evening conversation and activities with the family. Homestay living is a challenge, but it is an excellent way to learn more about Australia life. IELI has a full-time Homestay Coordinator to help with settling in and communication with your host family.
